Glass Pipe Screens
Glass pipe screens are an essential tool to have for most glass pipes and bowls. Pipe screens sit at the bottom of the bowl and protect unwanted herb and ash from entering the pipe and ending up in your mouth. In addition, they also help keep the inside of your pipe and bowl cleaner meaning less time spent cleaning them.
Many people know of metal pipe screens as they're extremely affordable and easy to use. However, we recommend that metal pipe screens only be used with metal pipes. For glass pipes and bowls we always recommend that a glass pipe screen is used. The reason for this is the metal screens can wear down your bowls after several uses, weakening the strength of the glass.
Glass pipe screens tend to be a little more expensive than metal, however, it is worth it to protect your glass pipes and bowls in the long run. These screens are also typically sold by single units unlike metal screens that come in 5-packs or more. One glass screen will last a lot longer than one metal screen as well. To use a glass screen, just place it in the bottom of your bowl before packing in herb. Load your favorite herb on top and the screen will prevent any small pieces from coming through. Once you've cleared the bowl, dump it out in an ashtray and locate the glass screen. You can give it a rinse or use glass cleaner to get it ready for it's next use.
Types of Glass Pipe Screens
Glass bowl screens come in a variety of styles. These can include flower or jack (aka triangle) style which are the most common but SMOKEA® offers some more unique choices such as honeycomb screens. Honeycomb screen work to maximize airflow so that you don't get any clogged feeling that can be caused by jacks or flowers if the bowl is over-packed.
