Are you a low-temp dabber? You need dab carb caps! Dial in your dabbing experience with these versatile smoking accessories. Get ready for maximum hash or concentrate flavor when you use a carb cap.
Simply put, a dab carb cap is an accessory that is used to cover the top of your dab nail or banger once you’ve dropped your dab on it. They help trap heat and boost convection as your hash vaporizes. These nifty accessories are usually made of glass, titanium, or other stable and heat-resistant material. Just place one on top of your nail to cap it and lock in heat. Some designs even include an airway to allow fresh air to be pulled through. This helps agitate hot oils, spreading them around the dabbing surface and vaporizing them more effectively.
If you dab at lower temperatures — and let’s be honest, you should be for maximum flavor — you need a carb cap for bangers or nails. Instead of scorching your materials, the carb cap lets you trap the lower heat of your nail. This means it stays warmer for longer, extending the sweet spot of your perfect temperature. Dab carb caps also drop the air pressure throughout your rig, including on the dabbing surface. That means the boiling point for your oil is lower and takes less heat. All that translates to a creamy, thick vapor quality with every dab.
It’s super easy. Just apply your dab to the hot nail surface, cover with the carb cap for a banger or nail, and you’re done. You can tap the cap or lift it up and down to adjust the airflow and pressure if you’d like. Or, if you have a functional carb cap, spin or twirl it to swirl and spread the oils around the hot dabbing surface. When you’re ready to clear, remove the cap.

While you don’t technically need a carb cap, it’ll allow you to dab at lower temperatures and retain an even heat for a longer period of time.
Carb caps are typically made from glass, quartz, or titanium.
Mix some rubbing alcohol and water a container with a lid, or a ziplock bag. Add a little coarse salt to the mixture. Gently shake the container or bag and leave to soak for a few minutes. Rinse well with clean water, dry with a towel.
