Mitragynine vs. Concentrated 7-OH: The Difference Matters
Mitragynine, often shortened to MIT, is the dominant alkaloid in the Mitragyna speciosa leaf and the compound present in traditional kratom preparations. It is what you are getting in leaf powder, leaf capsules, and leaf-alkaloid tablets.
7-hydroxymitragynine, or 7-OH, occurs in the raw leaf only in trace amounts. Products marketed as "7-OH" are made by concentrating or converting that alkaloid to levels far above anything found in the plant, which is why regulators treat concentrated 7-OH as a different category from kratom leaf. Mitragynine pseudoindoxyl is a separate compound again, and the DEA has placed it in Schedule I with no threshold exemption.
Those are three different things sold under one umbrella word. We think the distinction is worth stating plainly rather than leaving to the fine print, which is why our Press'd selection is limited to the MIT line.
Why We Only Carry the MIT Line
The kratom category is moving quickly at both the federal and state level, and a meaningful share of what is sold as "kratom" today is not leaf-based at all. We made the decision to stock only whole-leaf and leaf-alkaloid products, which means several popular Press'd SKUs are not available here and will not be. That is deliberate.
Every product on this page is sourced from an authorized distributor and carries current third-party lab documentation. Nothing on this page is a concentrated 7-OH product.
The Pressed Tablet Format
Pressed tablets are a compact alternative to powder. Each tablet is portioned during manufacturing, so there is no scale, no toss-and-wash, and no measuring cup. Tablets travel well, stay stable in a bag or console, and are easier to keep track of than a partially used pouch of powder. Flavored versions are available for people who would rather not deal with the taste of unflavored leaf.
Serving guidance is printed on the package. Follow it, and if you are new to kratom entirely, start well below the listed serving and give it time before considering more.
Lab Testing and Documentation
Press'd products in our catalog are third-party tested. Testing on kratom products typically covers alkaloid identity and concentration, heavy metals, microbial contamination, and residual solvents. Reach out to our support team if you would like the current certificate of analysis for a specific lot before you order.
Important Safety Information
Kratom alkaloids interact with opioid receptors. Do not combine kratom with opioids, benzodiazepines, sedatives, muscle relaxants, or alcohol. If you take prescription medication of any kind — particularly antidepressants, MAO inhibitors, or drugs metabolized by CYP2D6 — talk to your doctor before using kratom, as clinically significant interactions are possible.
Kratom can be habit-forming, and regular use may lead to dependence and withdrawal symptoms on discontinuation. Do not use if you are pregnant, nursing, or trying to become pregnant. Do not use if you are under 21. Do not drive or operate machinery after use. Keep out of reach of children and pets.
These statements have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration. This product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease. The FDA has not approved kratom for any therapeutic use.
What does "MIT" mean on a kratom label?
MIT is shorthand for mitragynine, the primary alkaloid in the kratom leaf. A product labeled MIT is built on that alkaloid rather than on concentrated 7-hydroxymitragynine.
Are Press'd MIT tablets the same as Press'd 7-OH tablets?
No. They are separate product lines with different active alkaloids and different regulatory treatment. SMOKEA® carries the MIT line only.
How should I store pressed kratom tablets?
Keep them sealed, at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and humidity. Heat and moisture degrade alkaloids over time. Do not store them in a vehicle in summer.
Ordering and Shipping Restrictions
You must be 21 or older to purchase. Kratom is prohibited in some states, counties, and municipalities, and we cannot ship to those locations. It is your responsibility to know and follow the laws where you live. Orders placed to restricted addresses will be cancelled and refunded.
