Bongs
Browse Our Bongs in a Variety of Materials and Sizes
It’s recorded that bongs were used as far back as 2,400 years ago. The traditional airtight water pipe collects heavier particles and water-soluble molecules, preventing them from entering the smoker’s airways and creating a smoother smoke.
These pipes are typically used to smoke dry materials. A smoking bong can be converted to a dab rig for use with oils and concentrate with the use of adapters and converters. However, if you're looking for something that's made specifically for concentrates, be sure to check out our Rigs category. No matter what your choice is, we've got the perfect acrylic, glass, and silicone bongs for sale at prices you'll love.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is a bong?
A bong is a tool that filters and cools smoke from burning cannabis. It comes in many styles, shapes, and sizes, each catering to the tastes and preferences of different smokers. Some are straightforward, while others are more complex. Early varieties were constructed from bamboo, pottery, and animal horns. Today, most are acrylic, glass, or silicone.
What does a bong do?
The bong has a small bowl that holds dried cannabis. When you light it, the weed burns and the heat causes the water to percolate. The smoke rises through the water, lowering the smoke's temperature. Then, the smoke goes into the chamber, ready for you to enjoy.
Do bongs filter smoke?
The short answer: Yes! The key to a bong’s filtration system is the water added. As the smoke flows through/across/above the water, it collects the ash and cools the smoke to give you a smoother, more enjoyable hit.
Why is a bong called a bong?
The term for a bong comes from the Thai word “baung,” which referred specifically to bamboo bongs that were used throughout Central Asia. This word is still used in Thailand to refer to them today!
Is a smoking bong the same thing as a water pipe?
You may have seen the terms “bong” and “water pipe” used interchangeably when shopping for bongs online, but is there a difference between the two? The key difference here is that, traditionally, a “bong” is only used to refer to a pipe that features a straight, vertical design, while a “water pipe” can include various percolators, several chambers, and different designs.
How do you smoke a bong?
Whether you’re new to the experience or just want a review, going over the steps can make your smoking experience easier and more enjoyable.
1. Fill the bong with water and/or ice
Most bongs are styled to allow you to pour the water into the mouthpiece. Fill it until the downstem is submerged about an inch. If you have a bong with extra percolators for additional filtering and cooling, fill them with water. Ensure all air holes are covered.
Adding ice to the water allows the smoke to cool even more, increasing the smoothness of your toke. Some bong styles have special ice compartments.
2. Add ground weed to the bowl
Grind your herbs to a medium-fine consistency. If your bowl doesn’t have a screen, place a couple of larger buds in the bottom. This step prevents the finer pieces from falling into the stem.
3. Hold the bong in your hand
Hold the chamber in your non-dominant hand. You can also rest the base on a table or flat surface for extra support. Some bongs have a carb hole; cover it with your finger if yours has one.
4. Light the bowl
Place your lips around the mouthpiece, applying light pressure. Light a match, hemp wick, or lighter with your free hand. Light the bowl by tilting the flame near the edge and slowly inhaling to draw the flame downward and ignite the herbs.
Remove the flame once the weed ignites. Keep inhaling slowly to keep the bowl lit. Then, remove your finger from the carb hole to inhale the smoke.
Is it healthier to smoke out of a bong?
Smoking a joint can feel dry and harsh. On the other hand, smoking from a bong can make the hit feel cooler and smoother because the smoke passes through the water. Some describe the effect as creamier.
While the filtered smoke may feel better on your lungs, it’s still smoke. The water filters out some harmful materials; however, it isn’t enough to make much of a difference. Therefore, smoking from a bong comes with the same risks as smoking a joint or blunt.
